Water consumption in paddy is very high. The high-rate and unplanned planting of the paddy crop, which has very high water consumption, within the network creates major problems in the delivery of water from source to downstream and in the distribution within the network.
In order to overcome this problem experienced in irrigation, officials of the Bafra Kızılırmak Irrigation Union and Altınkaya Irrigation Union implemented studies on paddy production with drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation for the first time in the Bafra Plain in 2019 for experimental purposes.

Under the supervision of DSI, paddy production was carried out with the drip irrigation method in an area of approximately 250 decares for experimental purposes in 2019. Paddy production with the drip irrigation method can be done not only on flat lands but also on sloping lands. Additionally, it is a production method that puts an end to laser leveling, bunding, leveling, and seed soaking in field preparation for planting, and provides 80% water savings.
