How Many Types of Irrigation Methods Are There?
When searching for the answer to the question of how many types of irrigation methods there are, the first thing to be said is that it expresses the way water is given to the soil.
Irrigation methods are generally divided into 3. These are; Surface irrigation methods, Pressurized irrigation methods, and Subsurface irrigation methods.
Surface irrigation is performed by the movement of water with gravity, utilizing the characteristics of the land without needing any external power or pressure.
These constitute the most commonly used irrigation methods: Wild flooding irrigation method, Furrow irrigation method, Basin irrigation method, and Border irrigation method.
In pressurized irrigation methods, water reaches the soil through different systems with energy and pressure obtained by utilizing a power source or the slope characteristics of the land. These systems are drip, sprinkler, mini sprinkler, porous pipe irrigation, etc.
In the subsurface irrigation method, water is delivered to the plant root zone through pipes integrated into the soil and the effect of gravitational force.
