Why Should I Use a Smart Irrigation System in Peach Cultivation ?

Peach is a fruit that adapts to different climatic conditions and is spread over wide areas in the world. Turkey is among the countries that produce the most peaches.

Peach is the species that needs water the most among stone fruit types. Irrigation interval varies according to air temperature, precipitation status, physical structure of the soil, and groundwater.

Water Demand and Irrigation Program According to Growth Periods with Smart Irrigation Systems

In peach orchards, starting from May, irrigation should be done according to precipitation, temperature, and water status. Irrigation should be suspended from 10–15 days before harvest until the end of harvest.

Irrigation continues in the months of August – September. Otherwise, since the trees will enter winter without storing sufficient nutrients and before the flower buds complete their normal development, they will suffer damage from winter colds. Irrigations carried out 3–4 weeks before the ripening date of the fruits give the best results.

The annual water requirement of peach is 600-700 mm.

Drip Irrigation in Peach

Since moisture content is provided continuously and at low tension in the plant root zone, the plant can take water without spending much energy. This is an important factor that ensures an increase in product.

Since plant nutrients can be given together with irrigation water, the maximum benefit can be obtained from fertilizer in peaches.

Using a drip irrigation system in peach allows for uniform irrigation in the plant compared to other irrigation systems, so an increase in fruit quality is seen.

Why Should I Use Smart Irrigation Systems in Peach ?

Water is an indispensable element of life. Without water, it is difficult to practice peach cultivation with high yields. One of the important elements of plant production is irrigation. As our soils deteriorate, the water holding capacity of the soils decreases and they require more water.

This situation significantly increases costs. Therefore, instead of irrigating more than necessary, you can provide the optimum water requirement of the peach with smart irrigation systems.

Additionally, by adding many smart control sensors such as remote control, smart, ultrasonic, and graduated moisture sensors to your irrigation system, you can keep the moisture amount at the optimum level and provide predictive irrigation solutions according to meteorological data and precipitation status information.
