Let's examine in detail below the most effective and efficient ways of delivering water to the field in field irrigation. Irrigation is the application of the water needed by the plant that cannot be met by precipitation to the root zone of the plant at the required place and time.
There are many systems regarding field irrigation. The selection of one of these systems for irrigation depends on whether the leveling of the field is proper, the type of crop grown, the chemical and physical properties of the soil, the quantity and quality of the irrigation water, farmer habits, the economic status of the farmers there due to some irrigation methods requiring additional investment, and the climatic conditions of the region such as wind, temperature, relative humidity, and precipitation.
While all irrigation systems can be applied on leveled lands, on non-leveled lands, sprinkler irrigation should be preferred, and in a region with strong prevailing winds, a more suitable irrigation system such as drip irrigation or furrow irrigation should be preferred instead of a sprinkler irrigation system.
The most commonly used methods are sprinkler irrigation with sprinkler guns, irrigation with drip irrigation and drip irrigation systems, and flood irrigation systems, which is an older method.
