Smart Parks

Smart parks involve integrating rapidly evolving systems into parks in a fast-developing world where new technology emerges every day. Public parks are an integral part of urban life. Today, while technology changes almost every area of our lives, many innovative technologies such as the protection of green spaces with smart irrigation technologies, which absorb CO2 and act as a screen against noise and pollution in addition to serving citizens, smart lighting, etc., have begun to be used in parks.

Smart Park Technologies

Smart park technologies in large and small urban parks include the following smart technology integrations:

  • Energy-generating pavements
  • Energy-generating exercise equipment
  • Micro-climate sensors
  • Smart irrigation systems
  • Electric vehicle charging stations
  • Smart benches
  • Solar-powered parking meters
  • Air quality and animal/mammal sensors
  • Solar-powered smart trash cans
  • Smart lighting (wind turbine and solar energy)
  • Online interactive park mapping
  • IoT bicycle stations
  • Augmented reality
  • Wi-Fi and other networks

LoRa Technology in Smart Parks

LoRa technology in smart parks offers a smart sensing and control infrastructure to allow long-range communication at a low bit rate between objects (connected objects) such as the LoRa network and battery-powered sensors. Thanks to this infrastructure, data is collected fluidly from hundreds of connected devices in parks and analyzed to provide smart services.

Benefits of Smart Parks

Smart park benefits; nowadays, it is necessary to integrate the use of technology in parks to attract visitors to them.

Increasing Park Visitor Engagement

Public parks are essential areas for children and adults to socialize, exercise, and spend time outdoors, but only if they are used. Free Wi-Fi and charging stations can encourage internet-connected individuals to leave their homes.

Improving Public Health with Smart Park Technology

While IoT can improve health, another benefit for the public is safety and security. Free Wi-Fi and phone service facilitate access to emergency services, rapid weather updates, and connection with friends and family if they get separated on the way. Connected services in a public park allow visitors to relax and spend more time enjoying the outdoors.

Determining Visitors' Desires

Through the sensors used, data can be collected to provide insights into which aspects of the park are being used and which facilities are underutilized. These insights are then used to improve the park areas frequently used by guests and to add new features that guests desire.

Reducing Park Operating Costs

Since unnecessary energy, water, and labor will not be used beyond what is needed, savings in natural resources and costs are achieved.

With our 15 years of experience in digitizing irrigation systems, we provide services in a wide range from landscape areas to soilless agriculture production and greenhouses. Our smart parks project, which we implemented in Bursa Botanical Park, is a great example of benefiting from technological blessings while preserving the beauties of nature.
