Product description

A 100 W plant growth LED floodlight for greenhouse day-length extension, nurseries, and indoor vertical farming applications. Its die-cast aluminum housing, tempered glass, and adjustable U-bracket make it suitable for outdoor and greenhouse humidity conditions.

The LED array emphasizes the red (~620-660 nm) and blue (~450-470 nm) bands that photosynthesis uses most; this is why the light appears pink-purple.

With Esular automation: The floodlights are powered through a contactor driven by the relay / digital output (DOUT) of the Esular control unit. This means you manage the lighting from the same SCADA screen and mobile app you use to open and close irrigation valves; output history is logged and reportable. Because LEDs reach full brightness instantly, they suit photoperiod scenarios that require frequent on/off switching.

Power Options: 50 W, 100 W, and 200 W

The floodlight is offered in three power levels. All three share the same spectrum, IP66 die-cast aluminum housing, and 220-240 V AC supply; the only difference is power and the resulting coverage area.

Spectrum: Built for the Leaf, Not the Eye

Chlorophyll absorbs light most strongly in the blue (~450 nm) and red (~660 nm) bands. The plant growth LED concentrates its energy in these two regions; the green-yellow region, where the human eye is most sensitive, remains weak — which is why the light appears pink-purple. The blue band supports compact, sturdy leaf and stem development and limits excessive seedling stretching (etiolation); the red band is where photosynthetic efficiency peaks and gains weight during flowering and fruit set.

Day-Length Extension or Photosynthetic Supplemental Lighting?

This is the distinction to clarify before talking about wattage:

  • Day-length extension / photoperiod: the goal is to signal to the plant that "the day is still going." The required light intensity is low; a high mounting position suits this purpose.
  • Photosynthetic supplemental lighting: the goal is for the plant to actually photosynthesize more. High intensity at the canopy is required, which calls for higher total power and closer fixture spacing.

Mounting height increases the coverage diameter, but the light intensity reaching the surface decreases with the square of the distance. Because intensity drops noticeably toward the edge of the light cone compared with the center, an overlap is left between fixtures.

How It Differs from High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) Lamps

From an automation standpoint, the most decisive difference is not lifespan or energy use but switchability. HPS lamps need warm-up and re-strike time, and frequent switching shortens their life; the LED floodlight reaches full brightness instantly and connects directly to automation via relay/DOUT plus a contactor. Because LEDs radiate less heat, there is more flexibility in mounting distance, the IP66 housing suits greenhouse and outdoor use, and there are no consumables to replace. This comparison describes general technology behavior, not a measured comparison between two specific products.

The number of fixtures required depends on the plant species, target daily light integral, share of natural light, and mounting height.
