The depth of the soil moisture sensor depends on the root structure of the plant being grown. A depth of 15-30 cm is recommended for shallow-rooted plants like grass and vegetables, 30-60 cm for fruit trees, and 60-120 cm for deep-rooted plants like vineyards and olives.
